Edward Klein Wright Oct. 5, 1921 - Oct. 2, 2017 Edward Klein Wright, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this life Monday Oct. 2, 2017 after a long, happy life of 95 years. He died as he had hoped, peacefully and at home with the companion and love of his life close by him. Edward is survived by his cherished wife Bettie Wright (Witherspoon); his beloved daughters: Sarah Young (Lowell), Susan Horne (John), Sydney Dallas (Jeff); his grandchildren: Claire Turrubiate (Young), Collin, Caleb, Anna, Lindsay and Carson Young, Grayson and Garrett Horne, Haley, Peyton and Tristan Ferrer and Reese Dallas. Step-granddaughters: Tammy Paiva (Young), Lisa Huerta (Young), Brandi Cantie (Horne), Ginger Horne; and several precious great-grandchildren. Edward was born at home to Leonard Earl and Marie Klein Wright on October 5, 1921 in Oakland, California. His brother was Kenneth Wright and his sister was Florinne McCray (Wright). He grew up in the Oakland-Berkley area of California. In his young years he enjoyed playing tennis and he loved playing trumpet in a swing band, and it was there that he met Bettie where she sang with the band. They were married on September 6, 1942. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary together just a month ago. Edward was a yeoman second class working in cable and radio censorship in the U.S. Navy stationed in Hawaii during World War II. After his return home he went to work as a real estate salesman for his father-in-law which turned into his life work as a real estate broker. Bettie even worked alongside him for a few years. Protector, provider, encourager, responsible, gentle, supportive, caring, accepting, ALWAYS LOVING. Edward enjoyed having fun with his family. He would do goofy things to get people to laugh. One time he took the ribbons from a gift package and hung them around his ears. Another time he put on a beatnik wig for Halloween. He liked to tell jokes that he told again and again at the dinner table. He took time to swim in the pool with his daughters. While watching TV with them at night he would playfully slap them on their legs to scare them during a scary movie. He was always fun to be with. He was so loved and we are missing him very much right now. In his last years he allowed others to serve him and care for his needs: his wife, Bettie; his drivers, Gloria Brewer & Scotty Taylor; his caregivers, Sheila, Suzanne, and Christine from Care from the Heart, and his daughters and grandchildren. It was a huge blessing to serve him. He appreciated everything done for him. Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm At Unity Church of Surprise, Sun City West, Arizona.
