Our Diane, Dianita, Mama, Sissy, Babe, Queenie or Ama as she was called, was born the oldest of 8 siblings in Corpus Christi, TX. to Elvira and Timoteo Rodriguez on September 15, 1951. She attended W.B. Ray and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, TX. In November 28, 1970 she married her high school sweetheart Pete Gonzalez they had 3 children, Connie, Cynthia and Tony. She attended a Del Mar College course in Corpus Christi for a Nursing Assistant. Shortly after she went to work for Osteopathic Hospital as a Nursing Assistant. Several years later she worked for Dr. Xico Garcia where she remained until she moved to California in 1975. In California she was a medical transcriber and later a legal secretary for Air Quality Management District in California. She was a woman of faith and started a rosary prayer group in Victorville, CA. in 1991 and it still continues today. She enjoyed cooking, setting off the fire alarm in her son’s kitchen, watching horror movies, novellas and talking to her sister. She was a devoted wife, mom, daughter and especially loved her role as grandma (Ama).
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Ninfa and Timoteo Rodriguez, daughter Cynthia Gonzalez and brother Tim Rodriguez Jr. Diane is survived by her husband of 48 years Pete Gonzalez of Chandler, Arizona; children: Connie Bowers (Steve Burnsed) of Hurley, MS., Tony Gonzalez (Yolanda Hernandez) of Chandler, AZ. and grandson Charlie Gonzalez; siblings: Roland (Delma) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX., Lucia (Benny) Anaya of Beeville, TX., Connie (Joe) Abrigo of Corpus Christi, TX., Cindy (Rudy) Benavides of Corpus Christi, TX., Margie (Jorge) of Floresville, TX., Jaime (Mary) Rodriguez of Portland, TX., along with nieces, nephews, aunt Rosa Vela of Corpus Christi, TX., cousins and other family members.
Diane’s children Mimi, Tony and grandson Charlie were the heart and joy of her life.
The legacy of her love and kind spirit will live on through them.
