Charles W. Cottle, affectionately known to family and friends as Downtown, age 66, died on July 11, 2017 at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ after a motor vehicle accident and complications of a long battle with COPD/Emphysema. Mr. Cottle is survived by his two children Kevin Cottle and Brandi (Cottle) Yaeger. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Austin Cottle, Elizabeth Angles, Laura Cox, Emma Cottle, Nathan Yaeger, Chloe Cottle, and one great grandchild Davonnah Cox. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters. Charles is a veteran of the Vietnam War for the United States Army and was a participating member in the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was born and grew up in Welch, West Virginia to Orville and Lou Ella Cottle. Charles lived most of his life in the Virginia / West Virginia region until moving to Phoenix, AZ in retirement in 2013. His family was his life, he lived to provide and protect his family and was a devoted loving father and grandfather. He had a very good natured demeanor and was always quick with a joke and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and was an avid Keno player. Services will be held on October 23, 2017, 10:30 am at Phoenix National Cemetery, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024.
