Barbara (Bobbie) Horst Breeden passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017, after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. She was born to E. Clemens (Buddy) Horst, Jr. and Genevieve McMurdo Horst on May 5, 1930, and is survived by her brother E. Clemens (Mac) Horst III and his wife, Jaye. She was predeceased by her sisters, Daisy (Tinky) Bobbs and Virginia (Ginger) Crowley, as well as a niece Tina Crowley. Bobbie was always adventurous and learned to fly as a teenager. She loved the feeling of freedom when she flew solo. Bobbie grew up in San Francisco and studied animal husbandry at UC Davis. As a young woman she was a volunteer at Stanford Hospital where her grandfather was a physician, and in later years she was President of a family company, Bear River Hop Farm. Bobbie lived in Northern California until 1965 when she moved to Indiana to be near relatives. In the mid 90’s Bobbie moved to Terravita, in Scottsdale, Arizona, and immediately became a beloved part of the community. In more recent times, she made her home at the senior living community, VI at Silverstone, in Scottsdale. Bobbie enjoyed music, golf, tennis, playing cards, happy hour, horseback riding and a good joke. Bobbie traveled with her friends to many parts of the world. She was a very social person and loved spending time with her friends, but most of all, Bobbie loved her dogs, Leo and Meg. Bobbie left a life-long legacy of generosity with her time and talents. After moving to Arizona, she became a great supporter of Arizona Musicfest, Desert Foothills Library, and Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church. Her wit, humor, and that wonderful smile will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 E. Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek, Arizona 85331, on Friday, March 31, 2017, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arizona Musicfest, Carefree, Arizona; Desert Foothills Library, Cave Creek, Arizona; or Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, Cave Creek, Arizona.
