

Lowell passed away in Mesa, AZ, April 20, 2025 at the age of 86 ½ years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his home in Gold Canyon, AZ May 17, 2025 at 4 p.m.
Lowell’s early life was spent in Live Oak, CA where he helped on his grandfather’s orchard farm and attended school. Live Oak elementary, middle and high school. Lowell lettered in Track and Field and/or Basketball, and was the Class of 1955 at Live Oak High School. He did not walk with his graduating class as he became disenchanted with a specific teacher and chose to leave school, later obtaining his GED.
Lowell joined the California National Guard in Pebble Beach, CA where he served as Staff Sergeant. He served in the National Guard Reserves thereafter.
Lowell also served as the President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce from 1960-1964.
He attended the State Convention in 1961.
Lowell married DeVella(Dee) Pugh March 30,1958 with whom they had 3 boys. Allen Lowell Prather Jr., Gregory Neal Prather, and Robert Brent Prather.
He worked and managed the Sossville Family music store in Yuba City, CA. He opened a second store in Oroville, CA which he also managed.
His first marriage ended and he remarried to Donna Bowers July 5, 1969. Donna brought her two children into the blended family. Clifford Lynn and Kelly Raye.
Lowell was very involved in PAL Football with the NYAC (Northwest Youth Athletics Conference) Rattlers in California which all 4 boys played, Kelly in cheer.
Lowell worked for B&J music until it closed, prompting a move to Arizona and becoming a sales representative for Coast Wholesale/KAMAN musical Instruments where he spent the rest of his working life.
Later in life, Lowell obtained his Realtors license, worked with RAN Realty and enjoyed helping families find their homes.
1975 moved the family from California to Mesa, Arizona. The family made many lifelong friends and watched their family grow.
The early 1980’s brought an opportunity for Lowell and Donna to purchase a plot of land at the foothills of the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction, AZ.
The area began to grow and develop, soon becoming the city of Gold Canyon. Lowell and Donna moved to the land permanently in 1984.
Lowell and Donna remained in Gold Canyon until his death.
Lowell is survived by his wife Donna Prather, children Allen Jr., Greg (Pam), Robbie (Arlene) and Kelly (Tom), 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Peggy and also Clifford Lynn.
