Alfred L. Coffern, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on September 3rd, 2023, at the age of 87. He is remembered with affection and dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. He had a warm and playful sense of humor and freely expressed his love for his family.
He was born in Denver, Colorado, where he grew up. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred F. Coffern and Jesse Coffern, and his two half brothers, Harold and Edward Bunnell.
After graduating from West High School, Denver, Colorado in 1954, Al joined the U.S. Navy and was based in San Diego, California. After his years of naval service, he went on to become a supervisor at the Public Service Company of Colorado. Alfred was not only a father, but a grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Roslyn, and his three adult children: Amy and Todd Heiserman, Alfred W. and Julie Coffern with their children Kelsey and Matthew Coffern, and Andrew and Rita Coffern with their children Ani Coffern and Rhea and Jason Lindberg with their children Sebastian and Phoebe.
In addition, Alfred is survived by his two adult stepchildren, and grandson; Julia Klein, and Rick and Donna Klein with their son Alex.
Alfred was a staunch patriot who loved his country; you could take Al out of the Navy, but you couldn’t take the Navy out of Al! He also enjoyed cars, hunting/target shooting and golf. He was active with his HOA, even holding the position of President for a period of time.
Al believed to do a job is to be all in, there was no halfway. This philosophy carried through in even the smallest of tasks. To this point, there are many “Al-isms,” but one that encapsulates Al best is “If a nail was sufficient to secure a board, a bolt was better.”
