Alexander Carlos Zivec (Alex), 23, Alex was born to Carlos and Alison Zivec in the early morning of March 3, 1993 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He spent the first 9 months of his life in Idaho before moving to Salem, Oregon. While in Salem, he began kindergarten at Clear Lake Elementary, and attended through the 3rd grade. He then moved to Klamath Falls where he attended Roosevelt Elementary. Even though he only resided in Oregon for 11 years, he always considered it his original home. He loved going to the beach, playing basketball, running, and spending time with Grandpa. It is also where he learned to play the saxophone. In 2004, his family moved to Bullhead City, Arizona, where Alex flourished. He attended Fox Creek Junior High and Mohave High School. He participated in the band program at both schools and music was always a big part of Alex’s life. He was a member of the Mohave High School Thunder Band from 2007 to 2011. He also participated in the Choir program from 2010 to 2011, and was part of the male singing group Soul Faze. He also was a member of Key Club. He graduated from Mohave High School in 2011, and attended UNLV for a year where he discovered his new career path. He then returned to Bullhead City to attended Mohave Community College where he earned his Associate of Science in Computer Science. In 2015, Alex began studies at Arizona State University to finish his Computer Science degree and obtain a Bachelor’s degree. Alex greatly enjoyed his independence while in Tempe, and made it his goal to meet many new people. He continued to express his love for music through learning to Salsa dance, and could be found tearing up the dance floor. Alex’s shining light and love of life will be greatly missed. He touched many people with his generosity and acceptance. Alex had a positive outlook on life, and taught many people to view the world in a positive way. Alex was preceded in death by Grandmother Lulu Zivec, Grandfather Bard Crooks, Great Grandfather Robert McKelley, and Uncle Alejandro Zivec. Alex is survived by his parents Carlos and Alison Zivec, Sister Tyana, Grandpa Larry Morris, Grandma Vara McKelley Hitesman, Grandparents Carlos and Mirna Zivec, Grandma Darlene Crooks, Aunt Nikki (CJ) Hansen, Uncle Brandon Miller, Aunt Gilda Zivec, Aunt Bardette (Andrew)Pfeiffer, Aunt Kandice () Cahuana, Uncle Zachary Crooks, Uncle Joshua (Summer) crooks, as well as a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 20th at 2pm in the Memorial Union at the ASU Tempe campus.
