He is survived by his daughter Malissa Shaw, and his son Aaron Shaw.
Vincent was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 25, 1949. His childhood in Memphis instilled a lifelong passion for reading books, and expanding his knowledge of world history. To anyone who would listen, he loved to engage them in in-depth conversations while often times displaying his notably distinctive laugh.
Vincent was a longtime aviation maintenance technician, and worked on repairing airframes and avionics systems in various states across the country. But before working in the aviation maintenance industry, he bravely served our great nation during the Vietnam War. In 1968 he was drafted into the United States military and inducted in the Marine Corps. Following boot-camp, he was deployed to Vietnam to join his unit (9th Marine Regiment). There during the Vietnam campaign, he and his fellow Marines fought tirelessly, earning them the legendary reputation as “The Walking Dead” due to suffering the highest casualty rates during sustained combat in Marine Corps history, while enduring months of brutal conditions and staggering losses. As a result of his injuries, Vincent was eventually awarded the Purple Heart.
Following his tour in Vietnam, Vincent returned home to the United States where soon after, he met Beth Hollingsworth in Los Angeles, California. He later married Beth, and through their union, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Aaron Shaw in 1971. Their time spent together was rather brief, and ended suddenly in divorce when their son was a toddler. Years later, Vincent found love again, resulting in the birth of his loving daughter, Malissa Shaw in 1991.
Vincent leaves behind a daughter Malissa Shaw, and a son, Aaron Shaw (wife Brenda Shaw); granddaughters Ryan Shaw and Jordan Shaw; grandsons Aaron Mateo Shaw and Donovan Shaw; brothers Ronald Shaw (wife Emma); Kevin Shaw; Preston Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
On Friday, July 17, 2026, Vincent was called home to be with the Lord where he now joins his father Elmo Shaw, mother Earleen Shaw, stepfather Hulon Dogan, sister Sandra Robinson, and brother Gary Shaw.
