Rosemarie met the love of her life, John Lones of 60 years. Together they served the Lord Jesus Christ in various churches during their life together. Rosemarie’s faith was the most important part of her life. Since moving to Florida, she attended First Baptist Church of Lake Park in Georgia, participated in bible studies, mission programs and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was always her goal to create peace rather than strife and to do that which is right and pleasing in the sight of God.
Rosemarie demonstrated a lifelong passion for education and language. Her academic journey led her to Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, Austria, where she earned her master’s degree. She later pursued further education in the United States, obtaining a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and German from the University of Oklahoma.
Rosemarie dedicated three decades of her life to teaching German and Spanish at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU). During her tenure, she served on the Faculty Council and founded both the OBU German Club and the OBU German Festival. In recognition of her dedication to language education, she was honored with the Certificate of Merit from the Goethe Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany and the American Association of Teachers of German in 1988. That same year, she received the Certificate of Distinguished Service from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Rosemarie was known for her adventurous spirit and deep love for family. She loved to travel and visit new places. She cherished time spent with loved ones and found joy playing games such as Mensch, Uno, and Yahtzee.
