December 26, 1946 — March 16, 2025
Tallahassee, FL
Rita Margaret Lucht, beloved mother, grandmother, nurse, Christian, and prayer warrior, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on December 26, 1946, to the late Margaret Hausold and Robert Lucht, Sr, Rita’s life was a testament to her love of and faithful service to our Lord Jesus. Rita was always gathering with sisters in Christ to pray over whomever was in need or whatever concern was brought to her attention.
Rita loved to knit and crochet beautiful items like crosses, butterflies, and afghan blankets, and had projects in progress until her homegoing. She was also an avid fan of the tambourine and making a joyful noise with it during worship services.
Rita served as a nurse her entire career spanning over 50 years, helping countless people along the way feel cared for and valued. She worked in critical care and dialysis in South Florida, and before her retirement, she was a clinic nurse for several years at the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute.
Her greatest joy came from her roles as a mother to her two sons, grandmother to her four grandchildren, and sister in Christ to her many lifelong friends. They often gathered to pray for each other’s families and anything of concern on anyone’s mind. She and her friends shared a fiercely loyal sisterhood that spanned five decades of friendship despite being many miles apart in recent years and located in multiple different states. Rita’s life was rooted in her deep faith and commitment to both prayer and worship ministries.
Rita was actively involved with her church families in Franklin, TN and Tallahassee, FL until her health began to fail and she became home bound in recent months.
In addition to her two parents, Robert and Margaret Lucht of Port St. Lucie, FL, Rita was preceded in death by her former husband, Dudley John Williams (“John”), and her daughter-in-law, Susan Lee Williams.
Rita is survived by her brother Robert Lucht, Jr. (Diana), her two sons Greg and Glenn (Mirella), and her four grandchildren Elaine, Katherine, Mikaela, and Jonathan.
A celebration of Rita’s life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM CDT at Southall Church (3279 Southall Road, Franklin, TN 37064), with a reception immediately following the service. A livestream will be available at https://www.southall.church/watch/.
