Pamela S Bailey

Pamela (Pam) Sue Scarborough Bailey of Gainesville, FL passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 76 in Crestview, FL surrounded by love. She was born on September 28, 1949, in Hattiesburg, MS, and grew up in Denver, CO and Grand Bay, AL.

She graduated from Mobile County High School in 1967 and attended the University of South Alabama for Art.

She married Robert (Bob) Bailey on September 7, 1974, in Grand Bay, AL during Hurricane Carmen. They proceeded to live around the eastern United States including Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and later worked for the United States Census, IRS, as an Alachua County Library Assistant, and ran an antique business she owned with her husband.

Her life was filled with volunteer work, including Christian Women’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Camp leader, Presbyterian Women, Adult Bible Study teacher, Church Session Member, and Presbyterian Church Deacon. Throughout her life she was active in Bunco and Bridge groups and played the handbells at church. She was an avid reader, crocheter, piano player, and painted watercolors and acrylics as a young woman.

She is survived by her husband Bob; her three children Gwendolyn (Gil) Fuentes of San Antonio, TX, Rachel (Shawn) Cefalu of Waterloo, WI, and Thomas (Brenna) Bailey of Waukesha, WI; her grandchildren Anthony, Dominic, Matteo, and David Cefalu, Elsie and Riker Fuentes, and Cooper Bailey. She is further survived by her sister Sheryl Smith, brother-in-law Wayne (Suzanne) Bailey, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar, Sr. and Frances Scarborough, in-laws Samuel and Margaret Bailey, and brother C.E. (Eddie) Scarborough, Jr., and brother-in-law John Smith.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church, 106 SW 3rd St, Gainesville, FL 32601 on November 15, 2025, at 10AM. A private interment will follow at a later date.
