Mary Elizabeth G Lawhon

Mary Elizabeth Goetz Lawhon went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 24, 2026. Born October 18,1945 in Eerie, PA., she grew up in Sanford, FL and in Tallahassee, FL where she graduated from Leon High School.

She was a legal secretary for the State of Florida Department of Insurance for many years and later worked for SuperValu Grocery Distributor in Quincy, FL.

Mary, known as Mawmaw to her 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren loved her family dearly. She was known for her cheerful smile and was a vibrant part of her community at Westminster Gardens in Tallahassee.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Rose Goetz, her sister Nancy Claybaugh, and her brother, Chuck Goetz along with his wife, Betty. She leaves behind her son, Tommy Lawhon (Holly), daughter, Becky Starnes (Billy), grandchildren, Tyler Lawhon (Hannah), Samuel Lawhon (Riee), Ansley Goff (Landon), Aaron Starnes (Riza), Luke Starnes (Madison), and Christine Van Etten (RJ) as well as 6 great grandchildren, Rose, Josiah, Evie, Hezekiah, Jack and Charlotte. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews.

The family will have a celebration of Mary's life sometime in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's honor to the Big Bend Hospice.
