It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence William Hancock, age 68, on January 29, 2025. Lawrence was born on January 12, 1957, in Orlando, Florida. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Hancock, and his children, Colin Hancock and Conor Hancock. He was also cherished by his stepchildren, Jason Bowles (Shannon) and Jennifer Phillips (Cole). Lawrence’s greatest joy came from being “Pops” to his three grandchildren, Caden, Sawyer, and Gauge, who adored him and will forever carry his memory. He is further survived by his sister, brother, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held him dear. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Hancock, and his mother, Barbara Hancock.
A lifelong lover of rock and roll, Lawrence’s passion for music was a defining part of his personality. Whether it was playing his favorite tunes on the bass or playing shows with the Saylor Dollar Band, music was a constant source of joy and connection in his life. His love for the rhythm and energy of rock music was a thread that wove through many of his happiest memories.
A devoted family man, Lawrence was known for his kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering support for those he loved. He touched the lives of everyone around him with his generosity and sense of humor, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held on February 8, 2025 from 12PM-3PM at his residence.
He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and his rock and roll spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
