
Joseph Allen Mowry, born March 21, 1954, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Sanford, Florida, Joseph spent most of his life in the state he loved, from Homestead to Live Oak, finding in Florida’s familiar places a lasting sense of home and belonging.
Joseph had an extensive military career and was proud to have been a U.S. Army Infantry Combat Veteran. That pride reflected a life shaped by duty, steadiness, and a deep respect for service. Following his military years, Joseph continued a life of commitment and reliability in his work, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service after years of dedicated employment.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Elke Karin Mowry; his father, Joseph C. Wilson; his stepfather, Frederick A. Mowry, II; and his sisters, Rebecca and Lucinda.
Joseph is survived by his son Michael A. Mowry and his wife, Jenny; and his son Christopher S. Mowry and his wife, Mendy. He is also survived by his mother, Elvira S. Mowry; his brothers, Fred, Leonard, and Ben; and his sister, Adelia. He is further survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
