Janice “Marlane” Castellanos of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. She was born on June 8, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter of Kenneth Dacus and Willa Faye Looper Dacus.
Marlane earned her Bachelor’s degree from Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. She dedicated the majority of her career to the Department of Environmental Protection for the State of Florida, where she served in various management roles over many years.
Marlane was an avid reader who found immense joy in spending time with her beloved husband, children and granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Robert John Castellanos; her children, Kelly Folmar (Alex) and Kevin Castellanos; and her grandchildren, Madison and Carter Folmar. Marlane is also survived by her mother, Willa Faye Looper Dacus, and her brothers, Gary Dacus (Gay) and Allen Dacus (Daphne) and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dacus.
A private memorial service was held on December 17, 2024. Marlane’s final arrangements were entrusted to Neptune Society of Tallahassee.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marlane’s honor to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Marlane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
