Betty was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Buffalo, New York, where she graduated from Kenmore West High School. She worked for nearly twenty years as the Regional Manager of Finance and Administration for The Trust for Public Land.
An avid animal lover, Betty frequently adopted elderly cats to give them a loving home, and they brought her great joy and comfort. She loved to travel, visiting almost all 50 states—including Alaska—taking several river cruises in Europe, and serving as a delegate from Tallahassee to Turkey in a sister city program. Betty enjoyed all that life had to offer, possessed an energetic personality, and will always be remembered as an amazing woman.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Beth Warren (Stephen) of Houston, Texas; stepdaughters, Jamie Smith and Tara Perrin (Richard); and two grandsons, Garrett and Kyle Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord (Tony) Johnston, and her daughter, Lynn Marie Farish.
A celebration of life will be held at Pisgah Methodist Church on Thursday, October 15, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Betty’s name to Big Bend Hospice or Tunnel to Towers would be greatly appreciated.
