Edward Erling Puletz

Edward Erling (Tod) Puletz died on July 28, 2026, after fighting a ten month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He faced cancer as he did everything else in life, head on and with unwavering courage. His devoted wife Audry, daughter Sheryl and brother-in-law Gary Larrimore were by his side. Ed started his life journey on Sept.1,1940. He grew up in Ridgefield, New Jersey, the son of the late Edward H and Lillian C Puletz. He graduated from Dwight Morrow High School, Englewood New Jersey, in 1958, and the University of Rhode Island in 1962, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1966 he joined the E.I.DuPont Corp. and continued his career in the Agriculture Dept. until his retirement in 1998. He was relocated to Tallahassee in 1986 as a sales manager in their forestry division covering Florida, Georgia, and Alabama territories. Tallahassee became home to Ed and Audry, a place where many happy memories were made. In retirement his favorite volunteer job was serving as instructor and training director for the AARP Safe Driver Training program. Ed had a lifelong love of all things outdoors, and especially enjoyed golf, hiking, working in his yard, camping and travel. He was a great dog dad to his many Golden Retrievers, Labs and a Yorkie over the years. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Audry; daughter Sheryl Puletz (Sue); son Tod C. Puletz (Heather); grandchildren Ellie, Max, Dorothy, Alyssa, Drake and Colby; great grandchild Aurora; sister Susan Edwards; nieces, nephews; and the Larrimore family. He also leaves behind his yellow Lab, Reba. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son Edward G. Puletz. The family will hold a private memorial to celebrate his life, and to honor his wish of no formal funeral. One of Ed's guiding principles that he lived by was Stay true to yourself, and never stop fighting for what you believe in.
