Dorothy Andrews Perkins

Dorothy Rose Perkins passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025. Dorothy was born in Carnegie, Georgia on February 13, 1930 to Wallace and Mattie Andrews. She attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she met and married Robert M.C. (Bob) Rose. Their first three children were born in Macon, Georgia before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida where their fourth child was born. Dorothy and her family settled in Tallahassee, Florida in the mid nineteen sixties.

Dorothy loved people and never met a stranger. She developed many lifelong friends. Her home was always a welcoming and comfortable place that exemplified her love of beauty and design. She enjoyed sharing her home with her family and friends and was well known for delicious food and a beautiful table. Dorothy was an entertaining and humorous storyteller throughout her life. Everyone who knew Dorothy talks about her as a role model and teacher. Her uplifting view of life and acceptance of people from all backgrounds was perhaps her greatest gift to her family and community of friends.

She was reunited with her highschool sweetheart Thomas Lee (Tom) Perkins late in life and they married and enjoyed a happy union until his passing in 2012.

Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband Bob Rose, her brother Wallace Reid Andrews Jr., her sister Martha Andrews Culpepper, her second husband Tom Perkins and her granddaughter Molly Rose Mougenel. She is survived by her son Robert Hans Rose ( Sara Gresko), her son Mark Andrews Rose ( Tina Rose), her daughter Katherine Armstrong Rose and her son Wallace Campbell Rose, grandchildren Bailey Rose (Bec Foe Rose), Seychelle Rose, Laura Mougenel, and Sarah Rose and great grandchildren Lyrik Cox and Wyatt Didio.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dorothy Oven Park in Tallahassee on Sunday, May 4th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
