Donald Payne

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hazel Payne. He is survived by his devoted wife of more than 36 years, Lynn Payne, whom he married on November 30, 1990; his daughter, Ashley Smith; his sons, Sean (Kristen) Moss, Macen (Shelby) Payne, and Aaron Payne; and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson Moss and Naomi Payne. He is also survived by his brothers, William Dozier and Gary Payne, and his sister, Sandra Worrall, along with many extended family members, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ who will miss him dearly.

Donnie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he worked as an avionics technician on the AV-8B Harrier and later as a tanker, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Delta Air Lines, serving in Atlanta, Gainesville, and ultimately Panama City, where he built lasting friendships through his dedication and work ethic.

He also faithfully served in the ministry through Tribe of Judah, where he boldly shared his testimony and the hope of Jesus Christ with motorcycle clubs throughout the tri-state area, along with serving as a deacon of PC First Assembly in Cedar Grove. His unwavering faith was the foundation of his life.

Family meant everything to Donnie. As a young man, he worked in his grandparents' steakhouse, where he learned recipes and traditions that he later passed down to his own children. His famous twice-baked potatoes and sautéed mushrooms became family favorites and were one of the many ways he expressed his love. He was known for his generous heart, his willingness to help others, his steadfast faith, and his deep love for his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at PC First Assembly in Cedar Grove on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The family will receive visitation from 9:30-10:45am with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. PC First Assembly is located at 1701 N East Ave, Panama City, FL 32405.

Donnie will be inurned during a private ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to PC First Assembly or the local panhandle Tribe of Judah.

Though his earthly journey has ended, Donnie's legacy of faith, service, love, and devotion to his family lives on in all who were blessed to know him. His favorite testimony was not only in the words he spoke, but in the life he lived, a life dedicated to serving God, loving others, and finishing the race with faith.
