Clinton W. (Pete) Crum, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully in Tallahassee, Florida on February 4, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Pete was born on August 22, 1943, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Clinton W. Crum (died in WWII) and Mary S. Smith (Crum) Boyett (deceased). Upon graduating from high school, he attended college at The University of Southern Mississippi. While in college, he decided to sign up for the US Navy, where he served 4 years on the USS Ranger (CVA-61) and 2 years on the USS America (CVA-66). Several years after he left the military, he met the love of his life, Deborah Kaye Martin Crum. They were married 50+ years and have two lovely daughters Kimberly L. Crum and Stephanie R. Sunday. Pete was a devoted family man and his girls and grandchildren (Austin Shirley and Raelyn Sunday) were the center of his world.
Pete worked in the real estate industry for 30+ years as a land title abstractor. In his off time, he loved spending time with his family. He loved trips to the beach and the mountains. He loved coaching softball. His favorite pastime was camping. He also loved watching college football, most especially Florida State (Go Noles!). Pete was a huge jokester and we look forward to seeing his smile and laughing at his jokes again one day.
Pete is survived by his wife, Kaye, and their two daughters Kimberly and Stephanie. He is also survived by his siblings Jimmy Boyett (Ann), Mike Boyett, Cindy Cospelich (George), Kay Ladner (Preston), as well as his brother and sister-in-laws Kerry Martin (Lynn), Karyl Chester and Kristi Cummings. In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law Betty Martin, his grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his stepdad Wyatt Boyett, stepsister Patricia Allange, sister-in-law Margaret Boyett, father-in-law Harry Martin and brother-in-law Kelvin Martin.
Pete was of the Baptist faith. Although it is difficult knowing he is no longer here in the flesh to kiss and receive his big bear hugs, we are secure in the fact he is now not suffering and resting in peace among the angels in heaven. Honey, you earned your wings. It has been a wonderful life as your wife and, as I uttered the last words you heard from me before you took your last breath, “Save me a Seat”. We love you!
A memorial service in Pete’s honor will be held at a later date.
