Billie Page Jackson, 89, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her home in Tallahassee, Florida. Billie was predeceased by her parents, William Ellis Page and Margaret Elizabeth Page, and her daughter, Jennifer April Jackson. Billie leaves behind a wealth of friends she cultivated over her lifetime.
Billie was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and her Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Florida.
After receiving her master’s degree, Billie began a distinguished career as a Guidance Consultant with the Florida Department of Education where she received numerous awards. Billie was designated the “Mother of Elementary School Guidance in Florida” because her work in this field facilitated the growth of elementary school counselors from 68 to nearly 1400. Because of this diligent work, Florida became the recognized leader in the field.
In 1994, Billie retired from the State of Florida but continued counseling for a brief time at Culley’s Funeral Home. She was a faithful member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church and loved the church family dearly.
Unfortunately, during the time our country was “shut down” due to the COVID epidemic, Billie’s only child, Jennifer, died.
While Billie was left without any family, she continued to grow a large garden of friends. She loved antiques, jewelry and playing bridge throughout the remainder of her life. She brought smiles and love to all she met and will be missed by many who consider her family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lafayette Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Billie’s honor to Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 4220 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
