Barbara Jean (Viola) Sullivan, 82, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Col. Francis “Pete” Sullivan; 6 children: Pati Jackson, Frank Sullivan, Kathy Abney, David Sullivan, Liz Burkhardt and Mary Catherine Berg; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Joan Palumbo and Lorraine Fast.
Barbara was born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania to Peter Viola and Lena Cantafio Viola. She graduated from Dunmore High School and moved with her family to Miami, Florida where she met her husband, Marine Corps pilot, Francis “Pete” Sullivan. She was a military wife for 26 years before the Sullivan’s retired in Florida.
She was affectionately known to her family as “Rose” or “Grandmama Rose” and was the most generous person who always put others first. She was a happy home-maker who loved her family and always expressed gratitude for everything. She loved the Lord and her Catholic faith was very important to her.
Barbara’s funeral service and burial will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the St. Elizabeth Cemetery, located at 3609 Coastal Highway, Crawfordville, FL 32327. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee are appreciated.
