Barbara Ann Conyers

Formerly of Americus, Georgia, Barbara departed this life Saturday, July 19, 2025 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Barbara was born July 17, 1960, to the Late Booker T, Sr., and Mildred Jones. She attended public schools in Americus, Georgia and graduated from Americus High School with honors in 1978. She continued her education at the unsinkable Albany State University. At Albany State she was a member of the Criminal Justice Club and crowned Miss Criminal Justice. She graduated cum laude in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. It was at Albany State where Barbara met her former husband, Derrick Conyers, Sr. They were married Valentine’s Day, 1987 in Albany, GA.

Barbara began her professional career as an information analyst with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement working for approximately twenty years until her retirement in 2002.

Barbara then worked as a paraprofessional in the Leon County School System.

Barbara had a passion for serving senior citizens and then worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for various agencies.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Booker T. Jones Sr. and Mildred Burton Jones and in-laws Commodore Conyers and Anne Mae Conyers. Barbara is survived by her three children Shanika Nichelle Jones, Derrick Devon Conyers, Jr and Ashley Camille Conyers; grandchildren Brandon Crawford, Jonathan Crawford, Bricen Crawford and Lauren Conyers; siblings Gloria Jones, Booker T Jones, Jr (Devetta), Donald Jones (Irene), Clay Jones, Sr (Tammye) , Booker Asberry (Brenda), and Ernestine Perkins; Aunt Florence Wright; special friends Mrs Patricia Thomas-Davis, Mr. Lester Stephens, Ms Mary Thomas, Mrs. Olivia Carter and Ms. Asicha Gabriel as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins, colleagues and church family.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at The Retreat at Bradley’s Pond, 9002 Bradley Rd, Tallahassee, FL, 11am.
