

Alice C. (Thomas) Ames (90), died peacefully at the Advent Christian Village at Dowling Park in Live Oak Florida on October 30, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Roydon Ames. At the marriage of Alice and Roy they each brought two children into the family. All four children were cherished, loved and prayed over by Alice. In order of age, Thomas Ransom, Kathy (Ransom) Reynolds, Dorothy Ames, and Laurie Ames. Alice was blessed with six grandchildren: Michael Ransom, Zachery Ransom, Jaqi Ransom, Sandra Hickey, Daniel Reynolds. She is predeceased by grandson Anthony Ames. Alice also was blessed with many great grandchildren.
Alice was born November 23, 1934 in Plainfield, NJ to Faye (Vannoy) and Thomas Thomas. At the age of 17 she accepted Jesus into her heart. She led a life of Christian faith and worshipped in the Advent Christian denomination at several churches. She was a true prayer warrior, Sunday school teacher, youth group helper, soprano in the choir, and supportive pastor's wife.
Her 33 year career includes seven years as a secretary at Davidson Rubber in Farmington, NH and twenty-six years as administrative assistant in the Dean's Office, UNH, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Durham, NH.
After retirement, Alice and Roy moved to the Advent Christian Village at Dowling Park, Florida. They built a home in Butterfield Acres. Their retirement was filled with many friendships, traveling, camping, and church activities.
Alice's special interests included being a homemaker, and wow did she keep a clean house. She enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, Scrabble, Antiques Roadshow, and watching sports on TV, especially golf.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 4:00 PM at the Bixler Memorial Chapel, Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the A.C. Village.
