Travis "Butch" Scarbrough joined the US Navy, as a Seaman Recruit, at age 17. He rose through the ranks with dedication and hard work, and honorably retired a decorated Lieutenant Commander. He had three college degrees under his belt, the last of which he completed a year ahead of schedule with a 4.0 GPA, while also making the Dean's List, and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities throughout all years.
Travis is survived by his sister, Becky Hull; his children, Travis L. Scarbrough, Lisa D. Likens, and Tanya L. Scarbrough; his grandchildren, Kaitie McKinney, Zachary A. Roberts, Cody Scarbrough, Cobain Thompson, Trevor Scarbrough, Dallas Likens, and Laydon Thompson; and his great-grandchildren, Emma Claire Scarbrough and Andrew Travis Roberts.
Travis was larger than life. . .a strong, hardworking, honorable man, who lived by the idiom "Be as good as your word". He always made his family extremely proud and he was the kind of father every man should strive to be. He was also a teacher, mentor, and role model to countless individuals, and yet still was amazingly humble and never forgot where he came from. The powerful impact he had on those who knew him was considerable and he will be sorely missed. The Earth lost a truly great man the day he left it, to be with his wife, Shirley Jo, and his loss will be forever felt by us all.
