Todd Wyman Hicks was born on February 27, 1954, in Berkeley, California. He was raised in Sausalito, California. Todd passed away on December 23, 2024, at his home in Centralia, Washington, with his devoted wife and partner by his side.
Todd is survived by his wife and partner Jaylene, step-children Paul Hagedorn and Tamara Brickell, his brother Kevin Hicks and Kevin’s wife Susan Kelley, and beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wyman W. Hicks and Anne R. Hicks. Todd will forever be remembered by those who knew him for his gentle spirit, boundless kindness, quick wit, quirky sense of humor, and deep appreciation of the beauty of nature.
A graduate of The Evergreen State College in 1978, Todd went on to a fulfilling career as a computer programmer before retiring in 2014 to embrace the quieter joys of life. Todd was an accomplished guitarist and musician. Todd loved music, sailing, astrology, reading, and nature. He found beauty in the smallest details and inspired others to pause and appreciate the wonders of music, nature, and life. Whether through a walk among towering trees or the stillness of a mountain stream, Todd's presence encouraged reflection and gratitude for life's simple pleasures. Todd was also a master conversationalist and writer. He had a captivating way of telling stories about where he lived and who he loved which could easily engage a listener for hours and leave them transformed.
Though he is no longer with us, Todd’s legacy lives on in the countless moments of kindness he shared and the enduring friendships he cultivated. May his memory bring peace to those who mourn him and inspire all to honor the spirit and strengths that defined him.
Private memorial services will be held in the Bay Area and Washington State at later dates.
