My brother Steve was the oldest of four siblings and my protector. I always felt safe around him. If someone tried to pick on me, he was there to help.

Steve was also funny—he loved playing jokes and pulling pranks on the neighbors. Everyone loved him. He was intelligent and skilled in his trade. As a pipe fitter, he once told me a story about refueling the Seattle-Tacoma airport. He joked, “If these pipes don’t fit, you’re gonna see me on the news.” Then he laughed. I guess the pipes fit because I never saw him on the news.

Steve thought highly of his coworkers, especially his employer, whom he spoke of often.

I will always remember him fondly and appreciate the childhood we shared.

Steve was one of the smartest and nicest people I ever met in my life. Always willing to take the time to share his vast knowledge of what we did for a living. I remember him telling me, I’m not sure how we are going to accomplish this but we will because if we don’t who else will. Some of the funniest stories ever told. So sad that you are gone, you surely will not be forgotten. Condolences to Lourdes and the entire family.

33(?) years ago I had the privilege of working with Steve as an apprentice. We had to cut and weld two huge pieces of pipe together at an odd angle. Being new I was baffled how we were going to accomplish this. Steve started writing a formula on the ground that went on and on. It was so long I thought Steve was playing a joke on the new guy. Nope, it was the real deal; Steve was absolutely brilliant beyond belief. I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to work with him. Prayers to his family, he will be missed.

Brother Steve was larger than life. I was always at ease when I was around him. It was like he had a lot more figured out than everybody else. I think he did.

Steve was a great guy.  Always had a story to tell.  He will be missed by all at Shinn Mechanical.

Steve always watched out for us growing up. He was a brother to me. We had some great neighborhood adventures! Never a dull moment. He went far in life and never stopping. 
Steve had the best stories. Jaw-dropping, gasping, No!, funny stories. What an adventurer! He was funny. And he cared deeply. He it’s missed.…now forever walking the beach he loved with waves crashing and the tall grass blowing.

Steve loved going to our house at Ocean Shores.  Whenever we could we would go. He loved the ocean this was his happy place.

We were at the top of the Dungeness lighthouse. There was no one else like Steve. Steve and I met on a blind date when I was 19. We just celebrated 42 years of marriage.  He's simply the best.  His family was very important to him. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids.
