Shirley Joan (Moore) Graves was born on August 21, 1939. She died April 22, 2023, with her son at her side, at 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Walter A. Graves. Shirley was born in Port Townsend, WA to Norma(Chalk) and William F Moore. Shirley is survived by her son, Toby, a guitarist and engineer; her sister, Marjorie; brother, William(Lee) Moore; and many nephews and cousins.
Shirley excelled in the arts and artistic media. First a hairdresser, then college student who obtained a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound. Shirley taught school then owned and ran a hair salon starting in 1980. She had a natural knack for creativity and business.
Shirley enjoyed the American Pickers, Shields and Brooks, and Jeopardy! on TV and also enjoyed spending time at the Tacoma waterfront listening to "Truckin'", gardening, and simply laughing on the phone with her relatives. She also put on many art exhibits and art sales of sculpture and painting.
Shirley died of congestive heart failure on Apr 22, 2023. No funeral arrangements are planned. No gifts please.
