Richard Donald Bell

Rick was born April 27, 1948, raised in Tacoma, Washington, the second of four children — older brother Mike Bell, and younger sisters Eadie Montgomery and Dawn Doyle. He graduated from Curtis High School in 1966, joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968, and served four dedicated years. After his service, Rick spent

over twenty years at IBM. Rick and Annie Bell were married in 1978. In 1984 Rick and Annie Bell moved to Grapeview where they raised their two sons and became a part of the community. When Rick left his work with IBM he spent the remainder of his career as a contractor in construction across Mason, Kitsap, and

Pierce counties.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annie Bell; his sons, Patrick Bell and Donald Bell; daughter-in-law Rachelle Bell; and grandsons Hendricks and Hurley Bell. All of his siblings survive him. Rick loved his country, his home, and most importantly he loved his family. He was known for his quick wit and sarcastic one-liners, but most notably for the steady and loving man that was a thoughtful and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

A special thanks to the veterans and the VA for their unwavering support throughout his illness. ALS was a challenging diagnosis and his family was blessed with many forms of support not only through the VA but also from the care team at Home Instead. Rick had a steady flow of loved ones visiting him as his illness progressed and we are grateful for the opportunity to have spent that time with all of his friends, family and community before his passing.
