90. He was born in Kirkland, Washington on November 3, 1934 the eldest child of Robert
Stanley and Gladys Cornelia (Apt) Morse. He graduated from West Bremerton High School in
1952.
Ken proudly served his country in the army for six years, including two years of active duty
and four years of reserve duty. Over the years, Ken worked in various fields, such as the Bon
Marché department store, Boeing, and eventually retiring from the personal property
division of the King County Assessor’s office. Even after retirement, Ken continued to work,
often holding two jobs simultaneously. He enjoyed sharing stories about his experiences as
a driver for Microsoft and transporting patients at Overlake Hospital. Ken worked diligently
to generate extra income to support his passion for investing in the stock market.
His other interests included travel, World War II history, with a particular admiration for
Winston Churchill, and appreciating the finer things in life, regardless of their form. Ken had
a keen interest in current affairs and consistently kept himself informed about the latest
news. He was a long-standing member of the Sons of the American Revolution, where he
held various positions over the years.
Throughout the past decade, Ken had many caregivers with whom he formed heartfelt and
lasting friendships. He generously shared his knowledge, particularly about investing and
history, with those around him. Ken cherished teatime, frequently gathering friends and
family to enjoy tea and treats together.
Ken was predeceased by his longtime companion of over 50 years David E. Van Moorhem and is
survived by two sisters, Kay Bright and Leslie (John) Knox, and a brother David (Jose) Morse, in
addition to a niece (Kim), two nephews (Bryan & David), two great nephews (Stewart & Kelvin)
and two great nieces (Alyssa & Pailin). In addition, he leaves behind many other extended
family member and a number of close friends. Ken was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 2 PM at Titlow Lodge, 8425 6th
Avenue, Tacoma.
