Joyce is proceeded in death by brother Kenneth Randall Reed and her father and mother, Henry and Alberta Reed of Vevay, IN. Joyce was born in the small town of Vevay, Indiana on February 28, 1942. She attended school in a one room school house until she moved to Vevay High School in town. After graduating she moved to Cincinnati, OH where she enlisted in the Marine Corps for 3 years. She was stationed in Fort Pendleton, California where she met Duane Sokoloski who was also a Marine. They fell in love, and were married on September 17,1966 in Seattle, where they raised the boys. Joyce and Duane celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary September 17, 2016. Joyce was a devoted mother, going to many of Mike and Kevin’s sporting events and was a big influence on the careers that Michael and Kevin chose. She adored her grandchildren and always had big hugs and a patient ear when they wanted to talk. Joyce spent time as a stay-at-home mom, and received her degree in Accounting at Highline Community College and was the office manager at a Retirement Park for many years where she eventually retired. She enjoyed baking and was an avid reader. In 1984, along with her sisters, mother, and her Aunt Jean, she took a real "girls trip" to Hawaii - with lots of laughs and gossip. It was a highlight for all , especially for Joyce’s mother who had never traveled on an airplane. Joyce took many trips including a cruise to Alaska, Yellowstone, and Cannon Beach, OR, along with summer road trips to Montana and Indiana to visit family, which were very important to her. Joyce will forever be remembered as the loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. We will miss her greatly but we also know she is in a place of peace. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, September 26, 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Church in Burien, Washington. Lunch to follow.
