Jim Shaw of University Place passed away after a long battle with heart disease. Born in Roseburg, OR, to LuVerne Breaw and Charles (Todd) Corriell, he served his country for 23 years in the USAF. He was a navigator and electronic warfare officer on RB-66 and B-57 aircraft, spending two tours in Vietnam and also earning an electrical engineering degree. He later used that degree during 16 years employment with the Building and Land Use Division, City of Tacoma. He had great intellect, loved to read and was very interested in German language & culture, travel and discussing politics.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy Shaw; his mother, LuVerne Shaw; brother Robert Shaw; sons Scott (Emily), Alex (Sara), grandchildren Jake, Bella, Luke, Vivien, Savannah, Adeline, Lila and Evelyn as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, Eugene Shaw and brother, Jay Shaw.
Memorial services will be Feb 23 at 2pm at University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th St. W, University Place. He will be inurned at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice.
