Mrs. Oswald was born on March 31, 1937 in Elkhart, Indiana to her parents, Guy and Dorothea Fischer. Jackie had a joyful childhood which she shared with her sister, Janet – often surrounded by music and their large extended family. She attended the University of Colorado-Boulder where she studied geology and met Robert “Bob” Oswald whom she married in 1959. The couple moved to Livonia, Michigan where Jackie worked as a home-maker while Bob worked at the Ford Motor company. The couple had three children and moved to Washington state in 1967 with Bob’s taking a position with PACCAR. Jackie continued as home-maker during the children’s early years after which she began a career as a travel agent where she was able to combine her passion for travel with helping others. She retired in 2002, which allowed her to dedicate her time to enjoying her grandchildren, passion for gardening, travel and listening to her favorite music which often included songs by Ann Murray and other favorite country artists.
Mrs. Oswald was a beautiful, patient and supportive wife and mother who’s grace, kindness and sense of humor brought light to all who knew her.
Mrs. Oswald is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob Oswald of Renton WA; her daughter, Carrie Oswald of Snoqualmie, WA; her son and daughter-in-law, Doug Oswald and Julie Hackworth of Bainbridge Island, WA; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Mike Meder of Snoqualmie, WA; her sister, Janet Stutz; and her three grandchildren, Haley, Sydney and Jackson.
