Gloria Mae Hall, born on May 1, 1943, in Minot, North Dakota, to Fred and Orpha Cummings, passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2024, 81 years old. Gloria lived a selfless life filled with generosity, love and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
She shared 25 years of marriage with her husband, Ray Hall, building a home that overflowed with love and the companionship of horses, puppies, birds, and cats. Gloria was a proud and devoted mother to her three children: Tama (husband Steve Mitchell), Gregory Garl, and Kelli (husband Matt Powers). One of the greatest joys of Gloria’s life was being "Mimi" to her cherished grandchildren—Richard, Mataya, Khloe, and Carter—whom she adored and spoiled beyond words.
Gloria’s fondest memories stemmed from her childhood days spent at the lake with her siblings and best friends, where she developed a love of water skiing. Gloria wasn't afaid to travel, she drove the Alaskan Alcan Highway as a single mom in the early 70's!!! From there she traveled all over the United States including a drive to Mexico! A week in Puerto Vallarta solo in the 80's was one she still talked about! She enjoying train journeys back to North Dakota to visit her brother Bob, sister-in-law Diane, and extended family, whom she loved dearly. She also traveled to Hawaii, Florida, Alaska, and took numerous cruises, with many more destinations still on her list.
In recent years, Gloria especially loved spending time at the cabin at Harding Lake in Alaska, a place that reminded her of the carefree days of her childhood at Lake Melogoshie. Gloria had a special gift for making friends wherever she went—whether at the local coffee stand, the grocery store, or with her hairdresser. Her friendly, giving, and generous nature made everyone around her feel at ease and loved.
Through her years in the healthcare industry, Gloria made many dear friends and was a light to families in their times of need. She felt particularly blessed by the companionship of her closest friends, Julie and Rosemary, with whom she shared countless afternoons, lunches, and memorable vacations.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unparalleled level of compassion.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held at her home at 4926 268th Street East, Spanaway, Washington, 98387 on Saturday, September 14, at 1 p.m. All who knew and loved her are invited to join her family in celebrating a life well lived.
