Growing up in Tacoma, she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953 and represented her school as the Daffodil princess. It was here that she met the love of her life, Warren Logan. They were married on June 3, 1955, 67 years. They had 3 children and made their life in Lakewood, WA, until moving to Gig Harbor in 1980.
Dorcas enjoyed her career as a piano teacher, working from home and Music City of Lakewood. Her love of music was clearly apparent if you were ever fortunate enough to hear her play. She later went on to work for Clover Park School District, Lakes High School, where she was an exemplary role model and mentor to many students. Whether it be from behind a desk or at athletic events, she was always there, and I mean ALWAYS there to support the students. She loved them as her own, and it wasn't uncommon to find students at the Logan home (mostly for meals as her cooking was 2nd to none). After Lakes High School, she continued her career with Clover Park as secretary to the superintendent, retiring in 1992.
Family, animals, and cooking were her passions. Never did a day or holiday go by that you couldn't find her in the kitchen preparing meals for the entire family.
It was well known that any animal, from her many cats and dogs to Canadian geese, squirrels, birds, and seals, hit the jackpot when they found their way to her home. She spoiled them all!!
Above anything else, it was her family that brought her joy. The unconditional love she displayed for all of us was undeniable. Never forgetting a birthday, special occasion, or anniversary. She was the most selfless person you could meet. Always had a smile and hug while welcoming you into her home. She simply was a genuine soul, full of empathy, compassion, and love for others. Mom...a life well lived with no regrets, only love...always the love. The stars above shine a little brighter with you, watching over all of us.
Dorcas is survived by her husband, Warren, of Gig Harbor; son, Scott Logan (Stacey); daughter, Tracey Logan; son, Craig Logan; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
