She was one of five children, born to Robert and Ursula Parks. The family moved a lot in
her childhood due to her father’s job as a Aeronautical Engineer.
The family spent time in Long Beach Ca., Roswell N.M., And Spokane Wa., finally to settle
in Renton Wa. As a child Bridget was small in statue and a bit on the quiet side but loved
animals and helped rescue many animals, including kittens, dogs, frogs, birds and lizards.
The most unusual being a pelican that was rescued from the beach with a fishing hook in
it’s webbed feet. Bridget’s mom being a nurse, helped remove the hook, while the pelican
spent the night in the bathtub and feasted on a can of tuna fish before being released back
to the beach.
Bridget graduated from Oliver M. Hazen High School in Renton Washington in 1971. She
married the love of her life from high school, Ron Smart, in February of 1972 before he left
for deployment overseas.
She was a stay at home mother to her two daughters, Kelsey and Griffyn, until they were
in junior and senior high school. Then she spread her wings, got her drivers license and
began searching for a job outside the house. She found a place at Regal Theaters then a
couple years later at PetSmart in Issaquah where she retired from. She loved her time at
PetSmart especially helping her pet parents make sure they had what they needed and in
helping new pet parents choose the necessities for their new pet.
She was a 4H horse project mother, enjoyed zig saw puzzles, crossword puzzles and
anything that would make her think and plot things out, British who done it TV shows and
Rachel Maddow.
Bridget was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ursula Parks of Newcastle WA.
She is survived by her husband, Ron, Maple Valley WA, her daughters, Kelsey Gilbert
(Robert) of Bremerton WA, and Griffyn Smart (Matt Holmes) of Northshore WA. Her
brother Rolf Parks (Toni), Bellingham WA and Keith Parks, San Francisco CA. Her sisters

Bridget will be placed in a niche at Tahoma National Cemetery to wait for her partner in

care of her during her last hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
