Robert James McDonald

Bob graduated from Arlington Heights High School where he played football and excelled on the golf team.

He married his childhood sweetheart Susan (Clark). They went on to have a loving event filled marriage for 64 years. They raised two children, Karen and Richard.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Following his military service he joined his family as co-owner and golf pro at Rob Roy Golf Club in Prospect Heights, IL. He devoted years to the club, where his passion for golf and his relationships with members & friends made him a beloved fixture in the community.

Later, after retiring, Bob and Susan moved to Northern California where he was a golf pro at his goddaughters golf course on Cobb Mountain, which was also called Rob Roy.

Bob was a friend to virtually everyone he met and a mentor to many. He possessed a golf swing admired by anyone who had the chance to watch him hit a golf ball. His knowledge of the game, generosity in sharing that knowledge, and genuine interest in others earned him the respect and affection of countless people. He will be dearly missed.

Bob passed peacefully on October 29, 2026 in Sun City, Arizona, with his beloved wife Susan by his side.
