Joseph Michael McKiernan, born in Culver City, California, on December 30, 1948, to Paul and Wilma McKiernan, passed away on February 19, 2025.

Joe spent his early years in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he graduated from St. Albert's High School in 1967. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972 as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Launch and Recovery) Petty Officer 3rd Class aboard the USS Kitty Hawk.

Following his military service, Joe pursued his passion for photography, earning an Associate of Applied Arts in Photography/Portraiture from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1975. He eventually made his home in Phoenix, Arizona, where he found joy in capturing memories through photography, bringing holiday cheer as Santa Claus, and advocating for veterans.

Joe is survived by his brother-in-law, Lynn Johnson, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Joe will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to service, and the joy he brought to those around him. A memorial gathering will be held at the Holiday Spa Clubhouse on March 2nd at 3:00 pm.
