September 24, 1950 – July 1, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Ludy. He passed away on July 1, 2026 at the age of 75 at his home in Fort Mohave, Arizona. James was born on September 24, 1950 in Newberry, Michigan to Asa and Jean Ludy. He had 2 sisters and 1 brother. He lived a life of honor, strength, and unwavering love to everyone he knew. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. His service reflected his courage, dedication, and commitment to others.
James was the beloved husband of Carol Ludy, with whom he shared nearly 52 years of marriage. Together they built a life founded on love, faithfulness, and devotion. They created a family that was the center of his world. He worked every day of his life to provide for his wife and daughters. He was a proud and loving father to his three daughters, Kim Rollf, Melissa McKinzie (Matthew), and Jamie Williams (Noah). Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his family. He is a loved and cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren. His family brought immense happiness to his life.
He loved being in nature and working in his yard, making sure that every leaf was picked up and it was as perfect as can be. He loved wood working and was so talented in everything he made. He made walking sticks, Indian war clubs, and tomahawks that he gave to his loved ones as gifts, showing them just how much he cared and thought about them. He loved to play solitaire on his computer, loved reading his books, and even made an entire map for him and Matt to explore the Superstitious Mountains for gold. He always gambled at the same machine in Laughlin when he and Carol went to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. He loved her home cooked meals and desserts, especially Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and her homemade raspberry cream pie.
James will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, steadfast character, and willingness to help anyone in need. He led by example, never judging and teaching those around him the values of hard work, integrity, loyalty, and unconditional love. His wisdom, gentle spirit, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we are forever grateful for the time we shared with him. His love will continue to live on through his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all whose lives he touched.
James’ legacy is one of service, sacrifice, and family. He will be always remembered, forever loved, and missed beyond words.
James is preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Theresa, and his grandson Miles.
