Diana Kranz, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend passed away on June 22, 2026, at the age of 78, following a sudden cardiac arrest. She was surrounded by the love of her family until her final moments.
Diana was born on January 30, 1948, in Chicago, IL, to her beloved parents, Angie and Frank Massoni. Her upbringing in Chicago was enriched by the love and guidance of her parents and stepfather, James Blazek, all who have predeceased her, and by her stepmother, Colette Massoni of Dixon, IL. Diana was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Norman and Pauline Kranz, who she loved dearly.
Diana’s life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, and community service. In 1996, she married the love of her life, Ken Kranz, in Lake Bluff, IL, after 18 years of friendship. Their marriage of 30 years was filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Ken, along with her devoted son James DeVito (Melissa), survive Diana. She is also survived by grandsons Jonathan DeVito (Ambur Wright), and Ryan DeVito (Megan Romano), who provided one of her greatest joys in life.
Diana is also survived by her siblings: Frank Massoni, Jr. (Margaret Graue), Michael Massoni (Michael Broadhead), Janine Blazek (Tina Blazek), Jim Blazek (Lee Vullo), her sister-in-law Carolyn Valentine (Bill) and many cousins and nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved Harley, a miniature Poodle and her companion for 15 years. Diana’s family extended beyond blood; she cherished many friends and community members who became like family to her.
Diana’s career spanned over 30 years at Kennedy Homes in suburban Chicago, where she began as a receptionist and rose to the position of Administrative/Office Manager. Her colleagues at Kennedy Homes were more than just coworkers; they were a family of dear friends who appreciated her tireless dedication and infectious smile. Her commitment to her Italian heritage was profound, as evidenced by her active involvement in the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans Women's Division for over four decades. Diana chaired the annual Italian Heritage (Debutante) Ball twice, fostering lasting relationships with organization members, debutantes and their families.
Diana’s spirit of adventure was evident in her love for travel, having explored destinations like Jamaica, Italy, Hawaii, the Dominican Republic, Paris, the Panama Canal, Napa Valley and the Grand Canyon. An avid cook and community organizer, Diana was known for her warm hospitality and her involvement in her community’s social committee and events. She was a beacon of love and kindness, always putting others before herself, and her genuine care for people left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Goodyear Fire Department paramedics and the Abrazo West Hospital Emergency and ICU units for their compassionate care during Diana’s final hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Diana’s memory to the American Heart Association, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, or the Arizona Animal Welfare League, causes close to her heart. A private funeral service will be held to honor Diana’s life and legacy. Celebrations of Life will be held in both Arizona and Chicago at a date to be determined.
Her family and friends will forever cherish the love and memories she has left behind. Rest in peace, Diana. Your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know you.
