Cathy was a quiet and thoughtful person who always wanted to be there for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kind and loving ways. Cathy was married to Stephen for 41 years and Mother of Courtney and Micheal.
She enjoyed sharing the lifestyle of Stephen’s Army career. In addition to spending most of their time in Tacoma, WA, they were stationed in Hawaii and Alabama. Cathy was a devout Christian and was very active in her church community. She dedicated her life to her family, faith, and church. She liked to give back by volunteering at her church and as a caregiver to friends in need.
Cathy and her husband retired to Surprise, AZ in Spring 2023 where they were enjoying retirement by exploring the area and spending quality time with her mom. Cathy enjoyed many fun family game nights, new restaurants, and live theater outings. The year before her illness she and Steve loved to travel to visit their children and grandchildren, and she went to Broadway performances in NYC.
Cathy overcame many health challenges throughout her years that shaped her spirit and compassion for others. She was a courageous fighter and faced this cancer battle with the same determination. She always had a smile on her face and never complained. She was blessed to have many people praying for her over the last several months.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Ryan; her daughter, Courtney Carlson (David) of Papillon, NE, and her son, Michael Ryan (Daniele) of Graham, WA. her 7 grandchildren, Marcus and Adam Carlson; Brooklyn, Kyela, Addison, and Aedyn Ryan; and Oliver Kimmenau; her mother, Lorna Christensen; and sisters, Cindy Christensen and Cheryl Sullivan, and brother Paul Christensen, as well as four nieces and nephews, Claire and Sarah Sullivan, and Paul Tyler and Delaney Christensen. She was preceded in death by her dad, Paul Christensen.
Her family was her greatest joy. We all know Cathy had lots of love in her heart for her family.
