Barton, a retired optician, was born on December 7, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana. He was married to Dr. Norma Ellen Jenkins, a retired optometrist, who resides at home in Prescott.
He leaves behind his sister, Donna Spencer of Norman, Oklahoma, a nephew, Aaron Spencer, a niece Amanda Spencer Lowery (husband Andrew), and three great nephews: Jay Spencer, Corbin Spencer and Jude Spencer.
