Vivian Arnold was born in Richton, Mississippi, September 18, 1934. She was the adopted daughter of the late James Clay and Ella Slaton Arnold, of Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was born into eternal life on May 24, 2017 at The Villages Regional Hospital. She graduated from Benton High School with a basketball scholarship to Holmes Jr. College, on to Mississippi State University where she obtained a B.S. in 1956. She graduated M Ed. from Mississippi College in 1966. She did postgraduate work at University of Omaha in Nebraska, and Atlanta University in Georgia graduating with S.Ed. She retired from Fulton County School System in Atlanta, Georgia in August, 1989, having completed 35 years of coaching, teaching, and counseling. She was of Methodist faith, survived by many friends, especially longtime friend Dianne W. Golden and family. In retirement in Florida, among other activities, she enjoyed current affairs, extensive travel and her love of fishing. It was said by many friends that you never had to guess what Vivian was thinking, and that she should write a book of her life, tales, and adventures. She live the good life to the fullest. Remains will be cremated. A Christian Memorial/Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Vivian’s wishes were that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to United Methodist Children’s Home, the charity of your choice, or with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you.
