Thomas Michael Daniel (72), formerly of Howard Ohio, passed away Sunday Aug 22, after a long struggle with Progressive Supranuclear palsy – a rare form of Parkinson's disease. He resided in the Villages, FL for the past 2 years, where his wife, Becky, continues to live.
Tom was born in Paintsville KY, Nov 11,1948. His parents moved to the Columbus Ohio area, when Tom was 2. He graduated from Worthingon Hish School, in Columbus Ohio. After high school, he joined the army. He served our country as a member of the Army Security Agency.
After leaving the army, he worked in machine shops as a tooling processor, and then worked for GE Superabrasives for 19 years as a production supervisor.
Tom has 2 children, Ethan and Keyaira, 5 grandchildren, Alyee, Carlyee, Donavan, Cash, and Sterling.
He has 2 great grandchildren, Zayne and Zavier.
He leaves behind his mother, Daphne, sister Theresa both of Concord NC, sister Deborah O'brien of Painters Gap NC, niece Amberly, and nephew Michael , both of concord NC, and 2 great nephews Christopher and Harrison
He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison Daniel, nephew Daniel Heineman, and nephew Charles O'Brien.
Tom enjoyed playing the guitar – he started as a teenager, and remembered practicing with The Pacers in Pataskala Ohio, at the local funeral home (after hours, of course.) In later years, he played out with a few bands – The “Diamond Studs” (fellow employees of GE Superabrasives), and “Brian Oaks and the Heartland Express”. He opened his own music business in Johnstown Ohio in 1995 – Doghouse Music – where he sold instruments, gave lessons, repaired instruments, and sponsored monthly open mics at a local pub in Johnstown Ohio.
His sister Debbie recalled a time where they were having an argument as kids and Tom smashed a violin over her head – Tom never remembered the story that way. Maybe that was the beginning of his musical interest with guitars – not violins!
A celebration of life will be held in Apple Valley Ohio, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, The Villages, Fl, or a Hospice of your choice.
