Audrey ‘Shleen’ Hobdy Blunt, 77, of Ocala, FL, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the Casa Bella House of Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL. She was born in Sanford, FL on October 17, 1949, to her parents, Ernest Hobdy and Mildred (Barineau) Hobdy.
Shleen graduated from Mt. Dora High School in 1968. She was an avid swimmer on the swim team and was actively involved in school activities and clubs including being the first Anchor Club President.
After getting married on May 2, 1969, she and her husband, David, spent time in various locations while he served in the United States Navy. A few years later, when they returned to Florida, Shleen spent most of her adulthood raising her three daughters at home and being the best mother and wife. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, crafting, participating in shooting competitions, attending NASCAR races, riding their Harley motorcycle together, and spending time with her family in the Smoky Mountains as well as at the family cabin in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Shleen is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mildred Hobdy.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Blunt; children, Leslie Blunt, Tracey Blunt Elliott (Don), Jodie Blunt Johnson (Matt); grandchildren, Kaeli Edmonds, Dylan Seal, Nicolette Bullington, Allyson Elliott Dotson (Luke), Brady Elliott, Cody Johnson, and Bella Johnson; great-grandchildren, Raena Seal, Claire Henshaw, Thomas Edmonds, Eli Johnson and Cassidy Johnson; sisters, Sheila Hutcheson (Jim), Debbie Roland (Vance) and Teena Edwards; extended family members Kevin Edmonds and Rod Abarca; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined, as well as a private family graveside service.
After her diagnosis, Shleen was passionate about being able to help others who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She participated in numerous clinical trials and often said, even if it didn’t help her, it may help others in the future. So in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org to help with further research and the cause to end Alzheimer’s as per Shleen’s wishes.
