Sharon Lynn Worthington of Homosassa, FL, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, February 4, surrounded by her loving family. She was known for her vibrant spirit, infectious humor, and ability to bring people together—especially through food. Whether tossing pizzas at Homosassa’s Snow Bird in the 1980s or preparing her famous pastries and chop suey, Sharon had a gift for making everyone feel at home. Her low-stress, high-humor approach to life’s challenges left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Sharon enjoyed spending summers by the lake in Michigamme, Michigan, and she had a passion for life’s little treasures—reeling in a good bass, hitting a jackpot, thrifting, and collecting unique and antique items. She was also a gifted artist, having hand crafted hundreds of outdoor figures of “Wildwoods by Shar” over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Richard J. Worthington, and her sister-in-law, Kathy Worthington. She is survived by her beloved sister, Karen Whitelaw and husband David, and three brothers, Richard Worthington Jr., Rodney Worthington and wife Verna, and Randy Worthington. Sharon’s legacy of love extends to her 36 first and great-nieces and nephews, including:
Eryn and Richard Worthington III (Zack, Emma, and Leah)
Gretchen and David Worthington (Anna)
Stephanie and Rex Struble (Alex, Cassi, Cody, Liam, and Lilly)
Stacey and Mike Worthington
Danielle and Rodney Worthington Jr. (Nicholas and Nolan)
Kim and Darren Nichter (Madison)
Amanda and Bill Larder (Audrey and Annabelle)
Jen and Tom Bosley (Elle)
Danielle and John Piskura (Della, Layla, and Charlotte)
Sharon’s kindness, laughter, and generosity will be deeply missed but forever cherished by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, take a family member out for a slice of pizza or a drink— or consider a gift to the Citrus County Humane Society to honor her love of animals, especially dogs.
