March 5, 1942 – October 6, 2026
Sandra “Sandy” Jean Granaas (née Lingafelter), 84, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on October 6, 2026.
Born on March 5, 1942, Sandy grew up in Willoughby and Eastlake, Ohio, and graduated from Eastlake North High School with the Class of 1961. She later made her home in Mentor, Cleveland Heights and then Munson, Ohio, before eventually settling in The Villages, Florida.
Sandy enjoyed a 26-year career with KeyCorp, but it was her sweet nature, cheerful spirit, and bubbly personality that truly made her special. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, making friends wherever she went.
Sandy had a lifelong love of music and dancing, especially the good old-fashioned sock hops. She also had a passion for antiques and decorating, always on the lookout for her next treasure. Whether browsing an antique shop, attending an auction, or finding the perfect piece to add to her home, Sandy delighted in surrounding herself with things she loved. She also enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hat Society, where she embraced opportunities for friendship and fun.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd Paul Granaas; her children, Laurie (Brian) Crouse and Steven (Dawn) Egner; and her stepchildren, Jim Granaas, Ron (Dawn) Granaas, and Rich Granaas. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, John Lingafelter Jr., Nancy (Fred) Zeiller, Roger (Debra) Lingafelter, Kathy (Matt) Peirce, and Peggy (Jim) Rose.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Lingafelter Sr.; her brother, Lawrence Lingafelter; and her stepchildren, Bill Granaas and Kathy Owens.
Sandy's life was filled with music, laughter, treasured finds, and countless friendships. While she may have danced her last dance, the joy she brought to those around her will never be forgotten.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Sandy's life and share cherished memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or Alzheimer's Association in Sandy's memory.
