He was born August 19, 1950, in Weldon, North Carolina and grew up in Roanoke Rapids, though he spent the majority of his life in Central and Southern Florida. Bob was a kind and generous man full of energy and a love for life that was infectious to all who knew him. Whenever anyone asked him how he was doing, his response would always be "Life is Beautiful!"
Bob had a distinguished real estate career with Coldwell Banker and Ann Cross Real Estate in Winter Park, Florida. For more than 20 years, he specialized in the luxury housing market in Winter Park, earning him the respect of his colleagues and clients for his professionalism and expertise in the field.
In the late 90's and early 2000s, Bob ventured into the nightclub business. He became the co-owner of popular nightclubs in Key West and Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his life partner of 38 years William N. Parker Jr. who preceded him in death.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Bob indulged his adventurous side by traveling the world. He loved to experience and learn the nature, people, culture and history of the places he visited in his travels.
Bob is survived by his son Ryan Jarvis Ricks, sister Dorothy Smith, brother-in-law Al Smith, brother Raymond Lee Ricks Jr. and nephews Michael Smith and Jeffrey Smith. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Lee Ricks Sr., and his mother Annie Mae Ricks.
In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will be no services, and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Child Fund International or Toys for Tots. Bob's generosity and kindness will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all to embrace life with open hearts and a spirit of adventure.
