Lawrence Willard Chantelois passed away on April 9, 2025, at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida with his wife, Sibyl, by his side. Lawrence was born on September 30, 1948, to the late Joe and Geraldine Chantelois. Lawrence was drafted into the Vietnam war and spent 2 years serving his country with pride and distinction. On October 22, 1982, Lawrence married Sibyl Chantelois, and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Wayne (Brenda) Chantelois, Tracy Birchmeier, Andrew (Carrie) Enck, his sisters, Margaret (Rex) Roberts and Cathy (James) Scudder along with 5 grandchildren Olivia and Henry Birchmeier, Brendan and Alyssa Chantelois, and Jacob Enck and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Anderson and Betty Anderson, his brother, Joe Chantelois.
Lawrence spent over 30 years working at Ford Motor Company in Milan, Mi. He started out as a forklift operator and after completing his training and education through Washtenaw Community College, he finished his time there as a millwright. After retirement, Lawrence and Sibyl became full time residents of Florida spending their time in Summerfield, Florida while often making trips to see grandchildren in Texas, Michigan and Maryland. When not visiting family or enjoying the Florida life with his wife, Sibyl, Lawrence enjoyed golfing, bowling and, in his younger years, hunting. He would always be ready to play cards with friends and family whether it was Blackjack, Texas Hold’em or any variation of rummy. He was often in weekly golfing and bowling leagues for many years and continued to golf with lifelong friends even after moving to Florida.
A celebration of life memorial will be organized at a later date.
