Dan met his Queen in the early 1990s while he was working at Rawhide II in San Francisco, California. On their very first date, they made a commitment to one another—on a napkin, no less.

From that simple beginning came an extraordinary life together.

Dan and Keith became an unstoppable, beautiful team. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and friendships everywhere they lived and traveled. Their love created a home wherever they happened to be, and they welcomed countless people into that life along the way.

To be loved by Keith is to know that you belong.

He had a remarkable ability to make people feel comfortable, relaxed, welcomed, and completely at ease. If you were invited into Dan and Keith’s home for a celebration, you knew you were in for an experience. Keith was the ultimate entertainer. Everything had personality, everything had style, and everyone was made to feel special.

Unique, funny, intelligent, loving, loyal, creative, and wonderfully unforgettable are only a few of the words that begin to describe the man we all know and love.

Of course, there are some Keith experiences that simply cannot be adequately described.

Like riding in a car with a Bostonian who possessed the unique ability to drive an automatic transmission with two feet.

Between the colorful commentary about the other drivers, the sudden stops, and Keith’s running narration of everything happening around him, you knew the moment you got into that car that you were in for a wild ride.

And somehow, that seems fitting.

Because life with Keith was never meant to be boring.

How do you summarize the life of such a remarkable man?

You don’t.

There are too many stories, too many laughs, too many celebrations, too many friendships, and far too much love to fit onto a page. Keith truly left his mark on everyone he met. With Keith, you weren’t simply a friend—you became family. And that family now stretches across the world.

On September 16th, Heaven gained the extraordinarily creative angel behind Kane’s Koncepts.

And knowing Keith, Heaven is already getting a makeover.

He is probably very busy these days. There is remodeling to do. Rooms need redecorating. Something somewhere is undoubtedly far too plain, boring, or beige for his liking.

By the time the rest of us arrive, Keith will have the before-and-after pictures ready to show us exactly what was wrong with the place when he got there.

And then we will see what he has created for us:

Something vibrant.

Something colorful.

Something fabulous.

The music will already be playing. There will be laughter in the room, love everywhere, and plenty of space cleared for singing and dancing.

And Keith—Dan’s Queen, our family, our friend, our unforgettable Keith—will be there waiting to welcome us home.

Until then, we will carry him with us in every story we tell, every room made brighter, every celebration shared, every song that makes us dance, and every moment that could use just a little more fabulous.
